Reaction to Government review of Bribery Act

Following news of the Government's decision to assess the Bribery Act as part of its growth review, the head of Lawrence Graham's anti-corruption group, Eoin O'Shea, commented:

"This 'review' seems to be part of a much wider review of legislation, not something specific to the Bribery Act. I think there is no prospect of repeal or significant amendment of the key parts of Act, much of which the UK is required to bring in by its international treaty obligations, notably the OECD Convention. The Conservatives and Lib Dems voted in favour of the Act in May and it would be bizarre if important elements of it were now changed before it even comes into force or is tested in the courts. It would not assist businesses to move the goalposts again."
