Experience

• Pension Protection Fund - Advising on the entry into the PPF of a £1.8 billion turnover group, including restructuring the PPF's position as creditor in respect of a pensions deficit exceeding £300 million.

• London Mortgage Company - sale of business in 2006 to Southern Pacific Mortgage Limited. At end 2005 LMC had a loan book in excess of £1.3 billion, including warehoused and securitised loans. Led the LG team advising the vendor and handling complex transfer of mortgages and securitisation obligations.

• Scottish & Newcastle - Led the LG team advising on the £2.51 billion disposal of its pub estate. The firm was shortlisted for the Legal Business award for real estate deal of the year for this deal. Legal Business said "Praise was heaped on Walker and Hayward's team for its 'incredibly sensible, pragmatic and forward-thinking approach to structuring the deal'".

• Scottish & Newcastle and Carlsberg UK - Advised on the setting up of a £150 million joint venture to provide drink dispense equipment and services in pubs.

• Led LG team setting up a cross-border Credit Card operation in London and Spain.

• Theakstons - Handled the disposal of the Theakstons brand and brewery to T&R Theakston Limited.

• National Lottery Commission - Advised on prize fund security and financial issues in award of licences.
