Expertise

Bill was the firm’s Managing Partner from September 1995 to April 2002 and Senior Partner from May 2002 to January 2008.  He is now responsible for the firm’s risk management and compliance functions.

Bill is the firm’s money laundering reporting officer and responsible for ensuring that the firm meets its obligations under the Solicitors’ Code of Conduct 2007.
In addition to his risk management and compliance responsibilities, Bill is the co-ordinator of the firm’s pro bono activities and oversees our corporate social responsibility policies.

Prior to becoming the firm’s Managing Partner, Bill was a member of the firm’s commercial litigation practice where he acted in a wide range of domestic and international business disputes, including shareholder and partnership issues, company problems generally, fraud, regulatory issues in the financial services industry, service contract and employment law problems and sports law.

Experience

• Acted for several defendants in the GRUPO TORRAS litigation, a multi-jurisdictional action where the claims exceeded $500 million
• Acted for Barings Dutch Finance Subsidiary in connection with competing claims by two sets of bond holders
• Advised in connection with several issues arising out of the collapse of the Maxwell empire
