Advises on the selection of appropriate forms of building contracts, appointments of construction consultants and drafts amendments required for particular schemes or to satisfy particular commercial requirements.
Advises on construction disputes including delay, loss and expense, prolongation, disruption and determination including resolution by negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
Credited in 2004 and 2006 editions of Legal 500 with 'thoughtfully planned campaigns' and advising with 'precisely the required balance between legal and commercial aspects' and in the 2008 edition of Chambers as having 'the knowledge of an academic in procurement procedure'.
Experience
- Advised on the construction aspects of several substantial Lottery funded projects including the Royal Court Theatre.
- Preparation of the construction documents for numerous office, retail park and town centre developments including, for example, the Fremlin Walk, Maidstone redevelopment.
- Acted for employer in the preparation of civil engineering contracts and subsequent advice in respect of claims for the construction of town bypass.
- Acted for one of the major universities in two arbitrations concerning a prestigious sports complex.
- Clients include: Centros UK, Helical Bar, the JCT, Legal & General, Sainsburys, Salmon, NFUM and Zurich Assurance.
