International estate and succession planning

We specialise in complex international estate planning for high and ultra high net worth individuals and their families.

Much of our advice centres around the creation of asset-holding structures involving trusts and companies based in offshore financial centres. Such structures enable clients to protect their family wealth from political instability and other risks and to ensure it is held in the most tax efficient manner. They also ensure the succession of family wealth and businesses in accordance with the client's wishes.

Our strong links with offshore institutions and banks and with advisers in different jurisdictions enable us to provide a seamless service to our international clients as well as UK and non-UK domiciled individuals and families.

International estate and succession planning

We can advise on:

  • Tax advice for UK and non-UK domiciled and/or resident individuals
  • Designing and implementing complex corporate and trust holding structures, including private trust company and family office structures
  • Dealing with conflicting succession issues arising out of the application of common law, Sharia law and/or civil forced heirship laws
  • Co-ordinating and managing the provision of multi-jurisdictional succession law advice and associated trust structuring
  • Trouble shooting: using our expertise in solving contentious trust and estate issues; advising settlors and trustees to recognise and plan against potential areas of future conflict
  • Advising on wealth planning generally; for example, inter-generational transfer of business interests
