LG is called into the Yard

19 January 2009

The Real Estate team at LG, the business law firm, has advised the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) on the purchase of the freehold interest of New Scotland Yard from Land Securities.
The MPA previously occupied the headquarters building under a lease.

Real estate partner Martin Stacey led the team, which included partners Jane Fox-Edwards (real estate litigation), Stephen Turnbull (planning), Simon Randall (local government), Anthony Woolich (competition) and lawyer Will Fraser (real estate).

Martin said: "This was a vitally important acquisition for the MPA as it gave them total control over the operational management of the building and decisions about the timing and extent of any future asset strategies. In view of its strategic importance, the transaction had to be concluded in just a few weeks."

Nicholas Vergette of Nabarro advised Land Securities on the sale.
