Senior intellectual property statesman joins LG
7 April 2008
Tibor Gold MBE is fourth to join LG's growing IP team in 2008
LG is pleased to announce that Tibor Gold MBE has joined its expanding IP practice as a Consultant with effect from 1 April 2008.
Winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2006 WORLD leaders European IP Awards in recognition of his "consistent and demonstrable track record in the IP sector", Tibor was awarded an MBE last year in recognition of services to Intellectual Property.
Formerly a partner at trade mark and patent attorneys Kilburn & Strode, Tibor is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and a former Fellow of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA), a European Patent Attorney and a UK Trade Mark and European Trade Mark Attorney. He is a qualified solicitor and holds Litigator certificates from both CIPA and ITMA covering patent, trade mark and design matters. Tibor is also a Visiting Professorial Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London.
Jonathan Riley, Head of LG's Commerce and Technology practice, says: "Tibor is an internationally renowned practitioner with an enviable reputation in all IP matters, both commercial and contentious. His experience complements our growing IP practice and supports its further expansion going forward."
Tibor is the fourth addition to LG's expanding IP practice since January this year, when Georgie Collins and Harry Karaolou were recruited from Bevan Brittan. In March, partner Richard Marke joined from Travers Smith.
Tibor brings his extensive IP experience in the mechanical, electronic, telecommunications, aerospace and computer industries and in fast moving consumer goods fields. With a focus at LG on the strategic aspects of IP protection, exploitation and enforcement, Tibor's recruitment does not mark a move by the firm into trade mark/patent filing or prosecution work.
Tibor Gold comments: "LG has a impressive and dynamic IP practice. I have had the pleasure of working with Georgie before and find the opportunity of working with her, Jonathan and the rest of the IP team an exciting challenge."
