New partner joins LG's growing IP practice

10 March 2008

LG is pleased to announce that Richard Marke has joined its Commerce & Technology practice as a partner from today, 10 March.

Richard joins LG from Travers Smith where he was a partner specialising in contracts relating to IP, IT and related matters.  At LG he will continue his focus on agreements for the licensing and acquisition of all forms of intellectual property – including contracts for the exploitation of new media rights.

His experience includes advising Gala Coral on an agreement for the provision of the TurfTV service into its betting shops, advising on the acquisition of the pay-per-view rights for Premier League football matches and advising Baring Private Equity Partners on a worldwide licence from ING bank of the "Baring" trade mark.

Hugh Maule, LG Managing partner, said: "We're currently expanding across our key practices with solid, experienced lawyers who can help us to grow our business even further. Richard is the fourth partner to join LG in 2008, to date."

Jonathan Riley, Head of LG's Commerce and Technology practice, added: "Richard brings a wealth of experience that complements our growing international IP and IT practices."

Richard Marke said: " Whilst I am sad to be leaving friends at Travers Smith, I am delighted to be joining LG.  They are keen to develop their IP/IT practice and I am looking forward to being part of that".

Richard is the third addition to LG's IP practice since January, when Georgie Collins and Harry Karaolou were recruited from Bevan Brittan.
