LG recruits 3 partner litigation team
11 February 2008
LG is pleased to announce the appointment of three partners to its growing commercial litigation practice, following the recruitment of a senior team from Dorsey & Whitney MNP.
The team comprises Jean-Pierre G Douglas-Henry, James Curle and Thomas Ross, together with associate Verity Barker. Each has significant experience in contentious banking and financial services matters.
Jean-Pierre Douglas-Henry is named in Chambers legal directory as one of the UK's leading commercial litigators. His experience covers a wide range of complex international commercial disputes, regulatory and insolvency matters – including acting for Marks and Spencer in relation to the injunction obtained against Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, preventing them from acting for Philip Green or his Revival Consortium. Formerly a partner at Dorsey & Whitney, Jean-Pierre was previously a senior assistant at Slaughter and May for a number of years.
James Curle has extensive experience in international commercial litigation, particularly in the areas of banking, financial services and fraud. He was also a partner at Dorsey & Whitney and prior to that practised with Slaughter and May for over nine years. He is well known in banking litigation circles for his role acting for JPMorgan in the Enron litigation.
Thomas Ross is a senior dispute resolution lawyer with significant experience of international banking and financial services litigation, complex contractual disputes, fund management and IP litigation. He was formerly special counsel at Dorsey & Whitney and, prior to that, was at Slaughter and May for over nine years where he acted for a major middle eastern bank in relation to a dispute involving one of the first Sharia-compliant leasing funds to be litigated in the UK.
Hugh Maule, LG managing partner, comments: "We are delighted to have recruited this accomplished team of quality litigators. With the continuing impact of the credit crunch – and the full effect of its shock wave still ahead – it is critical that we have robust banking and financial services litigation expertise to complement our existing, strong commercial litigation practice."
The team joins LG from today, 11 February 2008.
