Art gallery Haunch of Venison is sold to Christie's

LG has acted for the shareholders of art dealers Haunch of Venison Partners Limited ("Haunch of Venison") in the sale of the company to Christie's, the international auction house.

The deal represents a significant first for the UK art world, as it means Christie's will in effect be involved in the primary art market . Haunch of Venison is one of London's leading contemporary art galleries and exhibits work from successful artists such as Bill Viola and Keith Tyson. It also has branches in Zurich and Berlin and plans to open a new space in New York later this year.

Corporate solicitor Karima Hudson led the team advising the shareholders, together with partner Hugh Maule. They were assisted by LG solicitors Catherine Pearson, Catrin Huckle, Marc Wilshaw and Sam Gray.

Karima said: "This is a first for the UK arts world and we are very excited to have been involved. We look forward to working with Haunch of Venison in the future."
