LG raises £120,000 for Andy Quick Melanoma Research Fund

04 September 2007

LG, the London-based business law firm, is delighted to have raised £120,000 for the Andrew Quick Melanoma Research Fund at the The Royal Marsden Hospital, its nominated charity for 2006/7.

The funds will be used to sponsor a clinical research programme for a young doctor dedicated to progressing research into melanoma through The Royal Marsden's world renowned clinic, led by Professor Martin Gore.

The Fund was set up by the family of LG associate Andy Quick in 2005 after Andy lost his battle with melanoma – the most aggressive and deadly form of skin cancer. LG adopted the Fund as its annual charity in Summer 2006 and raised money during the following year through a wide range of activities and events, including a highly success Black Tie Dinner and Quiz, hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr and attended by over 600 corporate recovery professionals, including many of the major law and accountancy firms.

Nicholas Pike, a partner in LG's Corporate Recovery and Restructuring Team and organiser of the Black Tie Dinner and Quiz, said:

"Andy was a highly popular and dedicated member of our team and we miss him greatly.  We've all put a huge effort into raising as much as we can in Andy's name and are delighted to have raised so much for the Royal Marsden, who treated him."

LG's nominated charity for 2007-8 is the Unicorn Theatre for children, located next to LG's new home at More London Riverside, SE1.
