Corporate Social Responsibility
We don't just pay lip service to our wider obligations. They are part of every working day at LG…whether through the high environmental standards of our new offices at More London, or through our commitment to our community, and a wide range of pro bono activities.
Environmental management is close to our heart. With our move to our new office at More London in May 2007 we ensured that 'green' wasn't just a colour in our logo.
Our brand new building is equipped with many environmentally friendly aspects including:
- thermostatic air conditioning controls in all offices – the carbon-friendly approach to temperature control
- movement detection lighting control – ensuring lights are only on when needed
- full recycling programme - white paper, plastic cups, aluminium cans, glass bottles, kitchen waste, hazardous waste disposals
- fair trade and organic products in our gardencafé
- regular carbon emissions assessments
We are working towards achieving the ISO 14001 standard as a priority.
On moving to More London we did our best to ensure that the things we didn't bring were recycled and not being sent to landfill. However we started asking local chaities if they had any use for many of the items we no longer needed.
It's not just the environment we care about…we also like to give back a little something. This year, our nominated charity is The Unicorn Theatre - one of the leading producers of children's theatre. We will be working with them to give children confidence through creative activities. Conveniently, The Unicorn is adjacent to our new office, so we're helping our local community in Southwark by adopting it.
Many of our people are involved in pro bono activities. These include working at CAB surgeries and running events for charities and other important causes - sports days, quizzes, and gardening to name just a few. We don't do this by any prescriptive approach but by lending support and encouragement to our people who choose to do it.
